New Executives Join Company in Year of Double-Digit Growth With Ongoing Global Success of Acorn Media and Acacia DVDs/Catalogs
Silver Spring, MD; November 7, 2007 – Acorn Media Group, a leading independent global media company, announces Bruce Belliveau as its Chief Financial Officer and Mark Stevens as its President of Acorn Media U.S. effective this month. Stevens replaces John Lorenz who was promoted to Vice Chairman. Far outpacing industry growth, Acorn Media Group continues to grow rapidly. The company projects $80 million in global sales from its four divisions in 2007, an increase of 33% over 2006.
As Chief Financial Officer, Belliveau will oversee execution of all the financial activities of Acorn Media Group.
Belliveau has extensive experience as a senior financial executive at several highly respected companies including Dean Witter Reynolds as a Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department, Prudential Securities as a Vice President in the Investment Banking Department, and as an Executive Vice President and the Group Chief Financial Officer at Georgeson Shareholder Communications, a financial communications and shareholder services company. He received his MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and completed the Senior Executive Programme at London Business School.
As President of Acorn Media U.S., Stevens will oversee all aspects of Acorn’s North American home video distribution. Acorn Media U.S. is a leading distributor of British television programming on DVD, as well as a line of original health & wellness programming under the Acacia DVD label. Acorn Media U.S. will release a record 71 titles in North America in 2007, including top-sellers Prime Suspect 7: The Final Act starring Emmy®-winner Helen Mirren and The Bollywood Dance Workout with Hemalayaa.
Stevens brings a wealth of media related management, marketing, strategic planning, and product development experience to Acorn Media U.S., including 23 years at Time Warner. At Time Warner, he worked as Executive Vice President of Time Life U.S., President of Time Life Music, and in sales and marketing roles at HBO. Most recently, Stevens served as Senior Vice President at AARP Services. He is a graduate of Columbia Business School and the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Communications.
