Hosted by Academy Award® winner Susan Sarandon, these remarkable talks broadcast continually on PBS explore subjects ranging from Arthurian romances to modern myth. Over a career that spanned nearly 40 years, eminent scholar Joseph Campbell inspired artists, academics, and laypeople with his passion for myth and is best known from The Power of Myth interviews with Bill Moyers, inspiring George Lucas to create Star Wars, and his “follow your bliss” philosophy. The third installment arrives in a DVD 2-disc set ($49.99, www.AcornOnline.com).
During the final years of his life, Campbell embarked on a speaking tour in which he drew together all that he had learned about what he called the “one great story” of humanity. With these remarkable talks Campbell examines the core myths of the great Western traditions and modern myths. These remarkable lectures were filmed and are presented here in the order and manner in which Campbell himself intended, with enhanced images and in minimally edited form. The lectures have been broadcast on PBS, where it’s a perennial favorite.
