Silver Spring, MD — Concluding the acclaimed BBC crime drama about a maverick Irish cop taking on the London crime world, Murphy’s Law, Series 4 & 5 debuts on DVD from Acorn Media on August 30, 2011. Award-winning actor James Nesbitt (Waking Ned Devine, Bloody Sunday, Match Point, and Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit in 2012) delivers another riveting performance as the “hard-boiled, hard-hearted hard case” (The Glasgow Herald) in a role written especially for him by novelist Colin Bateman (Divorcing Jack). In the final two series of this gritty BBC America series, Murphy is at his darkest and most tormented as he becomes mired in London’s criminal underworld (2-Disc, 6 episodes, $39.99, www.AcornOnline.com). Murphy’s Law: Complete Collection is also being released on August 30th as a 9-Disc set with all five series (23 episodes, $99.99).

Uncompromising Irish cop Tommy Murphy (James Nesbitt) regularly puts his life on the line, going deep undercover with criminal gangs and battling his own demons. In Series 4, Murphy allies himself with a vicious hoodlum to bring down a drug empire. He also struggles to take care of his mother, who has Alzheimer’s disease and no longer recognizes him. When two fellow undercover officers go missing in Series 5, Murphy resolves to find them, despite foot-dragging by his superiors. His search mires him in a world of human trafficking, prostitution, and murder. Has the job finally become too much for him?

BAFTA-nominated for best drama serial, Murphy’s Law ran for five seasons and aired on BBC America in the U.S. Series 4 debuted in the U.K. on BBC One in August 2006 and Series 5 debuted in October 2007.
