Silver Spring, MD; August 8, 2007 - Acacia announces the October 9, 2007 DVD release of Joseph Campbell: Mythos I, offering newly remastered and visually stunning lectures from a master scholar and storyteller at his peak, tied together with introductions by Academy Award™-winner Susan Sarandon.
During the final years of his life, Campbell (The Power of Myth) embarked on a lecture tour in which he drew together all that he had learned about what he called the “one great story” of humanity. The lectures dissect a wide range of the world’s mythologies showing the universal themes that emerge throughout time and across widely disparate cultures. These remarkable lectures were filmed and are presented here in the order and manner in which Campbell himself intended, with enhanced images and in minimally edited form. The lectures have been broadcast on PBS, where it’s a perennial favorite.
The Programs
1. Psyche and Symbol—The psychological sources of myths and dreams.
2. The Spirit Land—How a living myth imbues the world with meaning.
3. On Being Human—The emergence of myth in early hunter-gatherer societies.
4. From Goddess to God—Ancient personifications of divinity.

In February 2007, Acacia released Joseph Campbell: The Hero’s Journey, a biographical portrait, and Joseph Campbell: Sukhavati, a deeply personal, almost spiritual, portrait of Campbell, told in his own words. Campbell (1904-1987) was an American author and teacher best known for his work in the field of comparative mythology. In 1988, a series of television interviews with Bill Moyers, The Power of Myth, introduced Campbell’s views to millions of people.
