Feature-length last episode offers an edgy, contemporary crime drama Dealing with hot-button political issues

"Compared with most television investigators, Fitz is still the king."—The New York Times

SILVER SPRING, MD; July 30, 2007 —Acorn Media announces the September 25, 2007 home video debut of Cracker: A New Terror, starring Robbie Coltrane (Harry Potter films, Ocean’s Twelve, GoldenEye) in a purported final turn in the role that made him famous: the brilliant but deeply flawed forensic psychologist Dr. Edward “Fitz” Fitzgerald.

After living as an ex-pat for a decade, Fitz returns to England for his daughter’s wedding and finds his homeland profoundly changed in the aftermath of 9/11 and the Iraq war. Against the wishes of his family, Fitz consults with the Manchester police to hunt for a murderer with no apparent motive. His investigation leads him into politically charged territory as he probes the roots of terrorism and its effects on society. It’s a compelling thriller with front-page relevance.

This feature-length episode of the award-winning crime series is written by Jimmy McGovern (the series’ original screenwriter) and directed by Antonia Bird (The Hamburg Cell, Priest). The film aired in the U.S. on BBC America. The Cracker series began in September 1993 and has been honored by BAFTA, the Edgar Awards, the Writers Guild of Great Britain, and others.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE Cracker: Behind-the-Scenes, a 45-minute retrospective documentary featuring interviews with Robbie Coltrane, Jimmy McGovern, Barbara Flynn, Christopher Eccleston (Heroes) and other members of the cast and creative team.
